Broadband transforms the way people use the Internet, providing much faster performance and the benefits of being 'always on' whenever we use a PC. It also provides unlimited use at a fixed monthly cost. There are many suppliers competing to provide it and price competition has brought the monthly cost well below £30.
Although the Highclere exchange has been 'enabled' for broadband, after a local campaign last Winter, this still leaves many homes and businesses in and around Highclere and Woolton Hill unable to access the service. This is because the technology (called ADSL - Assymetric Digital Subscriber Line) has a distance limit.
We still need to actively campaign to get broadband available throughout the district. If you want broadband and still cannot get it or if you want to help with the campaign, please contact Horace Mitchell, horace@highclerevillage.com.
If you live anywhere around Highclere (eg Woolton Hill, East Woodhay, Burghclere, Crux Easton, Ashmansworth) and want to get a better Broadband deal in our general area, please get in touch!
To learn more about broadband and the options that could be used to bring it to outlying villages, homes and businesses, see our MP's website:
