	Angels Sunday Club Angels Sunday Club is held on the 3rd Sunday of the month. We run alongside the family service, 11am to 12, in the Dunlop room at the back of the church. The age of the children ranges from 3 to 11 and any older ones are always welcome to come along and help. 	Little Angels Playgroup "Little Angels Playgroup" Dunlop Room St Michael & All Angels Church Highclere The Little Angels Playgroup has been running since October 2003 and runs on Wednesday's in the Dunlop Room at the rear of "St Michael & All Angels Church" in Highclere village. We welcome all "Little Angels" (pre-school age group 0 - 5's) and their "Guardians" (any age!) to our friendly group for fun play, juice and home-made treats and songs & stories, not to mention a nice cup of tea/coffee and a chat for the Guardians! The sessions start at 10am and finish by 12pm including school holidays where we welcome the older siblings who are very helpful! A nominal fee is charged on �1.50 for the first child and 50p for other children/babies. We aim to provide a "social centre" for families and their pre-school children in our village and surrounding villages. 	St Martin's East Woodhay Infants and Junior School A Church of England primary school. There were 83 pupils enrolled in 1999-2000. The most recent OFSTED inspection at Hantsweb (January 1998) reported three classes taught by a total of seven teachers. "St Martin's is a thriving village school which provides a good basic education for its pupils in a caring and supportive environment. The youngest children make a confident start in the reception class and by the time they are five, they are achieving good standards when compared with what is expected of five year olds nationally. Pupils make sound progress through the school and when they leave, most are attaining standards that are at least in line with those achieved nationally."
	St Thomas' Infants School, Woolton Hill There were 109 children enrolled in 1999-2000. The most recent OFSTED report at Hantsweb (21 February 1997) reported 124 children, and that "Children aged under five receive a positive start to school, where they meet a lively and rich learning environment. They are introduced to all the areas of learning necessary for their development and make satisfactory progress so that by the age of five their attainment is in line with expectations for that age group. By the end of Key Stage 1, pupils' attainment is above average in English, music, art and design and technology (DT), and is average in all other subjects. In 1996, standard tests and teacher assessments showed that pupils attain results in English, mathematics and science which are above the national average. Standards of behaviour are good and contribute to effective learning in the classroom. Pupils and adults show respect for each other and for the environment. The quality of relationships is very good and this is a strength of the school."
	The Apples Nursery School Set in one acre of beautiful countryside in Ball Hill,just south of Newbury.The Apples provides a wonderful setting for the development of two to five year olds.
	The Clere School, Burghclere Note: although the postal address is in West Berks the school is geographically and administratively in Hampshire and is the local secondary school for our villages. The number of students enrolled in 1999-2000 was 538. The most recent OFSTED report at Hantsweb (for 15 March 1996) reported that "This is a friendly school with a supportive ethos that is highly regarded in the community. A full curriculum is maintained, despite its small size, and there is a commitment from the headteacher and governors to achieve excellence in all that the school offers."

The most recent OFSTED report listed on Hantsweb (for 24 February 1997) reported an average class size of 27 and eight full time teachers. "The school is an ordered and caring community where the pupils behave well. The headteacher and his staff work hard to provide an environment where the pupils feel secure and confident. The parents provide positive support for the school. There is good provision for after-school clubs, particularly sport where the school has a high reputation."
