Highclere Parish Council Planning

Highclere Parish Council
Highclere, Hampshire, England

The Planning Process

Much of the Council's work is to do with proposed new developments and alterations and extensions to existing buildings. The planning Authority is Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) and current applications are listed at their website:
http://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/planning/dc/applications/

When an application is received by BDBC a copy is sent to the Parish Council and is circulated by the Clerk to members of our Planning Sub Committee. They review it, express their opinions, and return it to the Clerk, who makes our formal response to BDBC. In some cases a Planning Meeting may be convened, for example to consider a controversial or particularly complex application.

Any resident may make an objection or comment direct to BDBC. It may be helpful to you and to the Council if you also provide a copy of your objection or comment to us via the Clerk.

The Clerk is happy to make arrangements for residents to look at current applications locally, avoiding the need to travel to Basingstoke to see them. To make such an arrangement email or phone the Clerk (email parishclerk@highclerevillage.com, phone 253802). Please note that it is not usually possible to take an application away for study.

In considering applications the Council bears in mind the Village Design Statement.
